l’attrice Giacinta Pezzana, adottiva castellese, è stata una vera rivoluzionaria nel mondo del teatro?
Giacinta nacque il 28 Gennaio 1841 a Torino, dove fin da giovanissima si interessò alla scena teatrale, infatti a soli diciotto anni esordì presso una nota compagnia piemontese, la Toselli. Grazie al suo talento artistico e la sua personalità ottenne i primi successi.
La Pezzana si distinse per i suoi personaggi dalla personalità unica ed emancipata, il suo repertorio spaziava dalla tragedia shakespeariana a quella neoclassica.
Giacinta Pezzana fu una donna dalla mentalità moderna ed eccelsa, creò un nuovo modello di attrice sobria ed elegante ma dal fisico statuario, ma anche madre di Ada, sua unica figlia e maestra di Eleonora Duse.
Si trasferì ad Aci Castello nel 1887, definendo il paese “la sua dimora ideale” dove morì il 4 Novembre 1919.

Giacinta was born on January 28 of 1841 in Turin, since she was young she was interested in the theatrical scene, at the age of eighteen she made her debut with a well-known Piedmontese company, Toselli.
Thanks to her artistic talent and her personality she achieved her first successes.
Pezzana stood out for her characters with a unique and emancipated personality, her repertoire ranged from Shakespearean tragedy to the neoclassical one.
Giacinta Pezzana was a woman with a modern and excellent mentality, she created a new model of a sober and elegant actress with a statuesque physique, but also the mother of Ada, her only daughter and Eleonora Duse’s teacher.
She moved to Aci Castello in 1887, defining the town “her ideal home” where she died on November 4 of 1919.
