Roberto Rimini è stato un importante pittore per il territorio siculo?

Rimini nacque il 24 Marzo 1888 a Palermo ma si trasferì qualche anno dopo con la sua famiglia a Catania. Qui trascorse tutta la sua infanzia, quasi subito si accorse che la sua più grande vocazione era quella di diventare di un pittore.

Nonostante il poco entusiasmo della sua famiglia, Rimini frequentò prima l’Accademia di Belle Arti di Napoli, per poi trasferirsi in quella di Venezia. In quest’ultima imparò con grande entusiasmo tutte le varie tecniche che lo portarono alla produzione delle sue prime opere.

Nel 1914, con lo scoppio della Prima guerra mondiale, Il pittore siciliano dovette abbandonare momentaneamente   la sua carriera artistica per entrare nell’esercito.

Riuscì a tornare a Catania, qui è subito riconosciuto ed apprezzato, tanto che gli viene chiesto di collaborare con la rivista Rassegna Siciliana. I suoi dipinti furono sempre più apprezzati negli anni, Rimini prendeva ispirazione dai luoghi in cui viveva. Nel 1952 si trasferì definitivamente ad Aci Trezza definendola come “il paese che gli somigliava”. Il borgo marinaro offriva per il pittore fonte di grande ispirazione, nonostante furono gli ultimi anni della sua vita. Fece un’ultima mostra personale in occasione dell’inaugurazione dei locali della Pro loco di Aci Trezza nel 1966. Roberto Rimini si spense il 16 Febbraio del 1971.

Was Roberto Rimini an important painter for the Sicilian territory?

Rimini was born on March 24, 1888 in Palermo but moved a few years later with his family to Catania. Here he spent his entire childhood, almost immediately he realized that his greatest vocation was to become a painter.

Despite the lack of enthusiasm of his family, Rimini first attended the Academy of Fine Arts in Naples, and then moved to that of Venice. In the latter he learned with great enthusiasm all the various techniques that led him to the production of his first works.

In 1914, with the outbreak of the First World War, the Sicilian painter had to temporarily abandon his artistic career to join the army.

He managed to return to Catania, where he was immediately recognized and appreciated, so much so that he was asked to collaborate with the Rassegna Siciliana magazine. His paintings were increasingly appreciated over the years, Rimini took inspiration from the places where he lived. In 1952 he moved permanently to Aci Trezza defining it as “the town that resembled him”. The seaside village offered the painter a source of great inspiration, despite the last years of his life. He made a last solo show on the occasion of the inauguration of the premises of the Pro loco of Aci Trezza in 1966. Roberto Rimini died on February 16, 1971.
